Greetings and Happy Daylight Savings Time!

 

The Upper School DANCE last night was a fun celebration of community.  Kudos to Charlotte, Katie and Lori for all the planning and joy they brought to the event.  Many thanks to the many teachers and students who showed up early – or later -  to decorate and make the space magical, and then to put it all away!

 

 

BEHIND THE SCENES:

There has been much WONDER of late surrounding the original  occupants of our building - the Foushee Family.  What started with some MAPP students’ questions as to the original purpose of the rooms sparked a curiosity in Leah who went home to research and became engrossed in the sensational trial over which Judge Howard Foushee worked himself to death in the early 1900’s.  That inspired me to bring out the pictures, books and materials in my keeping.  I’ve been working this info into my Morning Meetings across the age groups for the past couple of weeks.

ANNOUNCE:

 

Featured Summer Program:

“Learning In Nature” -    July 14- 18. 

(Open to 11-17 year olds)

This program is a great mix of learning, nature, and fun! Students will spend half of their day sharpening their reading, writing, and math skills through design and construction, games, and storytelling. Hiking and exploring nature will comprise the rest of our day. While in nature, we will focus on making observations, identify native (and invasive) species, and encourage the practice of mindfulness.
