Greetings!

It was a week FULL of launches - the MAPP students took their first trip to the farm, the soccer team reached its needed numbers and the Spain trip meeting was very well attended.  Classes across all grade levels began as did the important work of discovering and responding to our students’ needs and interests.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

We are airborne and climbing - but not yet at cruising altitude.  The Camelot Way includes a thorough opening sequence and we are engrossed with incoming information that we will use to shape the year. Teachers are “popping” with ideas and experimenting with many variables to find the “sweet spot” in their classes.  My eyes are on the many new initiatives unfolding - from the Geometry in Construction class to the Wonder X independent study opportunities for our oldest students. We are all exchanging ideas to create a meaningful new Parent Night format.

REMIND:

MAPP parents have an optional Zoom meeting with teachers this Wednesday night at 6 PM

Upper School X Schedule begins this Thursday, September 12 and runs through Tuesday, September 24.

New to Middle Grades families have an optional Zoom meeting with teachers this Thursday night at 6 PM.

Don't forget to register your Middle or Upper School student for the trip to Spain! See the email sent Friday for all the details.

Job Shadows - Parent Assistance Needed!

Camelot is looking for job shadow opportunities for our Upper School students during the week of Family Conferences (Oct. 7-11, 2024). It might be for a couple of hours, several days, or anything in between. If you are able to offer such an experience to our students, please complete this Google form to provide more information. (An important note: Hosting a job shadow counts towards Parent Service hours!)

ANNOUNCE:

This Monday, from 12:30-3:30 PM, all Upper School Gold students will attend a Cinema Class with Ms. Raleigh at the Southwest Library.

This Wednesday,  September 11, all Upper School students (Purple and Gold) will participate in community service and team-building activities instead of regular classes.  Please contact attendance@camelotacademy.org in advance to see how we can accommodate late arrivals and/or early pick-ups on that day.  Students will be divided into two groups - one morning and one afternoon at the farm - with the balance of the day spent in choice-based service activities on campus and around town.  The activity assignments have been posted on the English Google Classrooms.  Students should wear weather-appropriate closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothes and plan to be outside and active.

Parents - please reply to the permission email sent by Amy on Friday.

This Thursday our soccer team has its first game!  Please refer to Coach Scott’s letter, sent on Friday, for all the details.

This Friday, September 13, all Middle Grades students will have a morning outing to the NC Museum of Art.  A permission email will be sent on Monday.
