Weekly Update for 09/01/2024
Sunday, September 01, 2024
Greetings!
We had a super launch to the year thanks to our amazing team and the winning spirit of our students. Special thanks to Lori, Michelle, and Nicole who orchestrated the orientation programming for the Upper, Middle and MAPP divisions, respectively. Logan, Wendy and Jill were - as usual - invaluable in more ways than one can count.
BEHIND THE SCENES:
Our Friday afternoon full faculty meeting found us exhausted, hot and exuberant about the potential of this student body. We swapped stories of WONDER-full moments from the opening sequence and put finishing touches on plans for the coming weeks. Now, for a well-earned and much-needed long weekend rest!
During my Thursday small group rotation with all Upper School students we began the dialogue both about whey they WONDER about and also about what would make this a fantastic school year. Each student wrote responses on a notecard which was turned in to me and now provides additional fodder for our journey together. Please feel free to extend this dialogue to the home-front!
REMIND:
School is closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.
Lunch orders are due each Wednesday by midnight for the upcoming week.
SPAIN TRIP INFO ZOOM - Wednesday at 7 PM

The itinerary includes special experiential activities: a cooking class, a Spanish Civil War role-play, a Flamenco dance lesson, and a study of Spanish artists. Plus, participants may earn high school or college credit if they complete an optional online course after their trip.

ANNOUNCE:
Before School care begins Tuesday morning. Attending students will meet the supervising teacher on the porch (drop off before 8 AM) or in the Big Hall (after 8 AM). Parents- while we are all learning routines, please ensure your child connects with the teacher on duty before departing.
Our soccer team has launched but is still seeking more players. We are eager to get as many students involved as possible in this co-ed Middle/Upper School opportunity. Please reach out to Logan@camelotacademy with questions.
Forge Your Path Announcements:
All Upper School students should now be connected to the Forge Your Path Google Classroom. This resource provides regular announcements of service, employment and educational opportunities for our students. Please see the end of this email for the latest announcements.
Job Shadows:
Camelot is looking for job shadow opportunities for our Upper School students during the week of Family Conferences (Oct. 7-11, 2024). It might be for a couple of hours, several days, or anything in between. If you are able to offer such an experience to our students, please complete this Google form to provide more information. (An important note: Hosting a job shadow counts towards Parent Service hours!)
I hope you have a great holiday weekend!
Best,
Thelma
