This school is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students.
Welcome! Thank-you for your interest in Camelot Academy! We have been certified to enroll international students (and issue I-20 documents) for almost ten years and during that time we have developed a unique dual-track program to serve the needs of English Language Learners (ELL). We can accommodate students with varying levels of English fluency, and give them the language support they need to complete for-credit classes until they are able to succeed in ‘mainstream’ classes (classes in which the majority of the students are native English speakers).
The admissions process begins when the family of the student fills out an International Student Application and returns it to the school, signed, along with the $100. International Student Application Fee. Once the Camelot Academy has received the application and fee we schedule a Skype or WeChat appointment with the student so we get some sense of who they are and determine the level of support they will need in English.
If Camelot Academy seems like a good match for the student we require certain documents before we can offer an acceptance. Among the documents we require are: records from the student’s current school including subjects taken and grades received for at least the last three years; attendance record, immunization record and any standardized testing that has been done. We should receive two copies of each document, one in the native language of the student, the other an English translation. We also require two teacher recommendations and a financial statement showing the family has at least $20,000. in reserve to fund the student living abroad for a year.
Once we have received all these documents and the decision to offer an acceptance has been made, the family will be emailed an Acceptance Letter, Enrollment Form and Tuition Agreement. If the family decides to accept the offer, they must sign and return the Enrollment Form and Tuition Agreement and pay all tuition and fees in advance. Once Camelot Academy has received the documents and full payment, an I-20 will be issued for the student and sent via Federal Express or DHL to the student in their home country.
If the student is denied a visa, and the family provides Camelot with a copy of the letter of denial, a full refund of all tuition and fees (except the application fee) will be made per the terms of the contract.
Each summer Camelot Academy hosts a two-week New International Student Orientation. It features intense English instruction classes, increased assessment of student needs, and field trips to points of interest in and around Durham. This orientation costs $1,000. and is mandatory for new international students. The form which must be signed and returned with payment is here.
