On Wednesday, January 23rd, the News & Observer showcased Camelot Seventh Grader Zachariah Claypool White in the 'Gold Star' feature in their education section which pays tribute to outstanding teachers and students in the area. Zachariah was mentioned for being named a winner in the Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet Series, which pairs young writers with professional poets who act as mentors.

Morgan Leeds, a graduate of Durham’s Camelot Academy, has been recognized by the College Board as an ‘AP Scholar with Distinction’. This honor goes to students who score an average of at least 3.5 on all AP tests taken.

David Hillsman, a senior at Camelot Academy, earned an ‘AP Scholar Award’ by scoring a three or higher on at least three AP exams. David has also been named a ‘Commended Student’ in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students are those who place in the top five percent of the 1.4 million students who participate in the competition.
