Camelot Seniors Break Record for Scholarships

Camelot Academy’s 25th Anniversary was made even more notable by the $345,000 in merit scholarship offers its class of four seniors attracted – an average of $86, 250 per student – or about double the tuition costs for a high school education at Camelot.

The Class of 2008 will be the focus of Camelot’s unique graduation ceremony to be held at The Carolina Theater from 9am to 11am on Saturday May 31st.  The graduates are ‘roasted’ in skits by faculty members and fellow students.  They are then given a microphone and about three minutes to personally address the gathering of family, friends, faculty and students.

Senior Caroline Pless, who plans to attend Sarah Lawrence College in Westchester, NY this fall, credits Camelot’s college guidance program with much of her success.  “They helped me throughout the application and recommendation process which went through several stages.” She also credits Camelot with giving her multiple opportunities to showcase her artistic work in the community.

Class of ’08 Valedictorian, David Hillsman, who is an AP Scholar and Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program, plans to attend Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. He first learned of the college through Camelot’s college guidance program which nominated him for a scholarship. His success as both a scholar and athlete has afforded him many attractive college opportunities.

Seniors, Camille Leeds and Terran Daye, who round out the Class of ’08 and, along with David, are members of the National Beta Society, plan to attend High Point University in High Point and Campbell University in Buies Creek respectively.  Camille first learned of High Point University on a trip sponsored by Camelot’s college guidance program. She looks forward to a career in the sciences.  Terran plans to join the ROTC and looks forward to serving his country as a member of the FBI.
